I am a trauma-informed, certified mental health social worker, proudly registered with the Australian Association of Social Workers. Over the past 15 years, I have dedicated my career to supporting women as a specialised trauma-informed domestic and family violence therapist and group facilitator on the Gold Coast.
My experience spans a broad spectrum of advocacy, social justice, and therapeutic work, including:
• Supporting young women who have experienced sexual assault and homelessness.
• Youth work with girls and young women in out-of-home care and foster care.
• Supporting with women who have experienced childhood or relational abuse, domestic and family violence.
• Supporting women who have been incarcerated and endured childhood trauma and/or domestic violence.
As well as the above, I have run workshops and groups on empowerment including building self esteem and self worth. Mindfulness classes for anxiety and panic and social support groups for women from non-English speaking backgrounds.
Additionally, I have mentored and supervised professionals across various fields, including health care, education, child safety, disability and aged care support, and domestic and family violence advocates.
My Therapeutic Approach
I offer a trauma-informed, social justice-oriented, and non-judgmental approach, centred on empowering women to reclaim control over their lives. As a certified Level 3 Trauma-Informed Stabilisation Therapy (TIST) practitioner, trained under Janina Fisher, I utilise this effective method to address -
Traumatic and Post-traumatic stress responses.
Complex trauma and complex post-traumatic stress.
Shock trauma and betrayal.
Trauma bonds, grief, and relational trauma.
I am also trained in Narrative therapy, Acceptance and commitment therapy, Strengths and resilience therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Turning Points for women’s use of violence, Interpersonal and psychodynamic theory.
Anxiety and Depression and including feelings of hopelessness and aloneness.
Anger and Resentment
Empowerment including building worth and self-esteem.

What is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker?
The Australian Association of Social Workers provides the following description of an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker -
‘Accredited Mental Health Social Workers (AMHSWs) use a range of strategies to support people experiencing mental health issues using a range of focused psychological strategies*. Social workers have completed advanced training and education in mental health and are recognised providers with Medicare Australia.
AMHSWs meet some of the highest standards of professional regulation in Australia’.
Focused mental health strategies include
cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), including behavioural interventions and cognitive interventions
interpersonal therapy (ITP)
psychoeducation, including motivational interviewing
relaxation strategies
skills training, including training in problem-solving, anger management, social skills, communication training, stress management and parent management.
